My first “very hard” week.

Yesterday was my first day of a “very hard” StrengthEngine week. They’re not kidding with that label, they say “very hard”, and they mean it. I decided to go for a short bike ride today, no more than 10 miles, just to keep my legs loose, and almost fell off my bike! My legs were so tired it took awhile to get them to pedal. This is something we’ve been working hard on, as a team. We’re worried about over training, and we want to make sure we’re getting adequate rest. We want to make sure we’re getting enough time on the bike, after all, we’re a cycling team, but we know the gym time is important. Scheduling and metering each, so we don’t overdo one or the other, has been a challenge. So far our solution has been to sync up our workout weeks. This way, when we’re all on a “very hard” StrengthEngine week, we can tone down the on-the-bike training, and when we’ve got a light gym week, we can turn up the heat on the bike. Maybe we can get Dan at SE to write up a blog post about the best way to balance bike time and gym time.
